NSU officials have not yet decided what to use the $107,000 the university received from winning the Pontiac Game-Changing Performance at the NCAA men's basketball tournament last month. Mary Edith Stacy, director of enrollment management will be the chair person for the committee that will determine the criteria for this scholarship.

Not much is known at this time, but Stacy said, "Once we have this basic information in hand then a university committee will be formed and then the committee will determine the criteria for this award and the timeline for the initial award."

Athletics Director Greg Burke said, "The Financial Aid Office will distribute the scholarship money per the guidelines established by the committee."

NSU President Randall Webb formally accepted the check during a presentation by Russell Hall in front of the historic three columns at 3p.m. Tuesday. Members of the men's basketball team, faculty and students watched as Pontiac officials presented the check to Webb.

NSU received $100,000 after fans nation-wide voted for Jermaine Wallace's buzzer-beating three point shot. NSU beat out other finalists UCLA, LSU, and Texas to win the money.

The university also received $5,000 for being finalists along with an additional $2,000 from Chevrolet for two "Player of the Game" awards for the performance of Clifton Lee in the first game against Iowa and Keenan Jones in the second game against West Virginia.

Stacy said the committee should be formed by next week to determine out what scholarships will be funded by the money and who will be eligible for the scholarships.
